About Us

We are Troop 32 in Southington, CT. Our charter organization is the Lions Club. Currently, we have 25 Scouts and 11 registered leaders. We welcome boys from age 10, who have attained the arrow of light, or 11 years old about to enter 6th grade or equivalent up to 18 years old. You do not need to have been a cub scout to be a boy scout. Homeschoolers are always welcome. Our troop is unique because our focus is on youth leadership, the training this promotes, and our young men's moral growth. All activities are decided upon and implemented by the youth leaders with minor guidance from the adults for safety and scheduling. All our patrols are age appropriately divided from new boy patrols to senior boy patrols each having junior leaders and adult advisors. We use a Troop Guide as a liaison to our new boy patrols. We also have a very active parent group who are always encouraged to get involved and help as they can. This could be as a committee member, assistant scoutmaster, or just a helping hand. We believe advancement is essential but understand that each boy will advance at their own pace, not pushed, but guided and encouraged. We recognize that the First Class Scout, the Eagle Scout, and all other ranks are equally important to the Troop and all are great scouts. Our troop is active in the community through eagle projects, the Lions Club events, our bottle drives, and security for Apple Harvest Festival for First Congregational Church. The church is where we meet every Tuesday night at 7:00 pm. The most important goal is to HAVE FUN!!!!! Don't be surprised if you come to our meetings and learn a few elephant jokes. Our largest event is our summer camp. We love to camp, canoe, hike, and this year we will accomplish at least one campout for all twelve months beginning this September. I encourage you to email any questions or just stop in and visit any of our meetings and introduce yourself. We would be excited to provide more details about becoming a member of our growing organization.

Yours in Scouting, Dan Greer (Scout Master)
